#1 Magnetic Fluid Driver

Authentic, lifelike sound quality. This is the new dimension of high‑fidelity audio that Technics strives to achieve - conveying, in its purest form, the emotions of the creators embedded in the music and the dedication poured into every single note.
The developers share the passion and technology behind EAH‑AZ100.

We have adopted our independently developed Magnetic Fluid Driver in true wireless earphones for the first time in the industry*.
By maximizing sound purity to its fullest extent, we pursued ‘living sound’ that sets a clear distinction from conventional wireless audio.

Magnetic Fluid Concept

To Achieve a New Dimension of High-Fidelity Sound

Masuda: For this model, we have utilized a material known as magnetic fluid. Traditionally, magnetic fluid has been used in large speakers primarily for heat dissipation purposes. However, in the EAH-AZ100’s driver, we have integrated it not for that reason, but to enhance ultra-low distortion and bass reproduction performance through the centering function of the voice coil. This technology has actually been in development since the wired EAH-TZ700 model, hasn’t it?

Tanaka: That’s right. When I first heard the sound from the TZ700, I was moved beyond words. I felt a strong desire to implement this technology in true wireless earphones, and I believe every member of the development team shared that same vision.

Masuda: Since the TZ700 is a wired earphone, it naturally has no battery, no circuit board, and no additional features—so we were able to make ample use of the internal space.

Tanaka: Exactly, we dedicated all kinds of mechanical structures solely to acoustic performance.

Masuda: When we set out to integrate this technology into a multifunctional true wireless earphone that supports calling and noise cancellation, miniaturization was without a doubt the biggest challenge we faced.

Tanaka: We have always remembered the sound of the TZ700, and held firm to the desire of delivering that same sound quality via wireless. We took on development with the conviction that, if we could properly implement the Magnetic Fluid Driver technology from the TZ700 into the AZ100, we would undoubtedly achieve sound quality surpassing the EAH-AZ80, our previous model released in 2023.

Benefits of Magnetic Fluid

Masuda: By placing magnetic fluid inside the voice coil, the entire diaphragm can now be supported at two points: the circumferential edge and the inner voice coil. As a result, the vibration movement itself becomes extremely precise, enabling ultra-low distortion—this is a major advantage, in my view.

Tanaka: Conventionally, the edge required a certain level of structural rigidity. However, the benefit of magnetic fluid is that vibration remains stable even with reduced edge rigidity. When driving the driver, bass reproduction demands amplitude, and with a thinner edge, the transient response becomes significantly improved. This is another key advantage that greatly contributes to enhanced bass reproduction performance.

Tanaka: The adoption of magnetic fluid has not only delivered ultra-low distortion but also improved bass reproduction performance. I believe this sound embodies the core goal of Technics sound design: to deliver the authentic, unaltered expression of the performing artist.
